Genealogy

Records of birth, death, and marriage may be made available for genealogical research, subject to certain requirements. The application form can be downloaded here.

Please Note: These records are not available for public viewing and are released only for approved genealogical purposes.

Eligibility Requirements

Birth Records:

  • Must be on file for at least 75 years

  • The individual must be known by the applicant to be deceased (proof required)

  • No information will be released from sealed birth certificates

Death Records:

  • Must be on file for at least 50 years

Marriage Records:

  • Must be on file for at least 50 years

  • Both bride and groom must be known by the applicant to be deceased (proof may be required)

Descendant Exception

The time requirements listed above may be waived if the applicant is a direct descendant (e.g., child, grandchild) of the person named in the record. Proof of direct lineage is required.

Yes. The following application must be submitted with all geneaology requests.

No. The records obtained during geneaology research are not subject for public viewing.

You can obtain a birth certificate, however, the birth certificate must not be a sealed record. If the record is sealed, the birth record will not be provided. Additionally, the birth certificate must have been on file for a minimum of 75 years and the person whom the birth certificate relates must be deceased. Proof is required.

 

Death certificates may be obtained if the record has been on file for a minimum of 50 years.

 

A marriage certificate may be obtained if the record has been on file for a miniumum of 50 years, and the bride and groom are known by the applicant to be deceased (proof is required). Additionally, the time periods specified for birth, death, and marriage records are waived if the applicant is a descendant of the person whose record is being requested. A descendant is a person in the direct line of descent such as a son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, etc. Proof that the requester is a direct descendant is required.

Yes. There is a $22.00 fee for any geneaology record.
