Town Attorney

The Town Attorney serves as legal counsel to the Town Board, providing guidance on a variety of matters to ensure the town’s operations are in compliance with the law. Key responsibilities include drafting and reviewing all legislation adopted by the Town Board, as well as overseeing other legislative orders and resolutions. In addition, the Town Attorney handles contract reviews, certain personnel issues, and a wide range of other legal matters that arise for the town.

Dwight Kanyuck, of Knauf Shaw, currently serves as the Town of Caledonia’s attorney. Dwight has been working with the town for several years, particularly in areas related to solar energy and zoning. In 2024, he officially took on the role of Town Attorney. With over 20 years of experience in environmental and energy law, Dwight brings a wealth of legal knowledge to the position, having previously worked as a chemical engineer, business manager, and project manager with Eastman Kodak. His extensive background in both legal and technical fields ensures that the Town of Caledonia receives comprehensive legal counsel on all matters.
